First off, it's utterly beautiful, vivid, lush, vast, atmospheric. Everything you could ever want graphics-wise.It's the type of game that doesn't really give you a story, rather, you just simply get thrown in. Each world is great, towing the line between 'open world' and 'linear', a nice balance between the two. Contrary to other reviews, I always had the sense of generally knowing what to do, and if I didn't, it just meant I had to explore more! Which is GREAT! That's exactly what made this game so balanced and high quality. The puzzles are definitely not original, with the Talos Principle's style of gates and enemies. I don't think that takes away from the game though, the puzzles were quick and easy and fluid to solve. I'm not the kinda gamer who actually enjoys hard or even medium difficulty puzzles. I like to just coast through the game really nicely, and this provided the perfect difficulty level.Frankly, seeing how brutal the reviews have been for this, Kairo and NaissanceE, makes me lose some faith in the gaming community. Just be patient guys! There's a wealth of beauty to be had in this genre of games. Maybe play it for more than an hour before writing a negative review. So overall, this is just a high quality game, I'm impressed, and I had a really good time.. "If you are to learn their secrets, you must unearth the fate of the race that called this world home"I sort of knew going in that the above promise would not be fulfilled: it's a classic switch and bait, where you are pulled in with the promise that there will be some grand revelation at the end of the game; there isn't, and that was a major disappointment, despite anticipating this outcome. That being said - I loved playing it. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking and there were times when I just stood there, looking up at the sky. The gameplay was decent too, if not a little basic, but there were enough stop-and-think puzzles in there to keep it interesting. If you are looking for some relaxing puzzle play, with some cool "oh, that button does that" moments, then this is for you. If you are looking to be challenged to the point where your brain haemorrhages and your nose bleeds, then move on - this is not for you, nothing to see here. 'Epitasis' is a beautiful, mesmerizing first-person puzzler in the same vein as games like 'The Talos Principle' or 'The Witness'. It pulls strongly from 70s sci-fi art for it's breathtakingly gorgeous alien worlds, which have a full day\/night cycle and dynamic weather system. The beauty of this game is something to marvel at and the worlds that you're brought to feel ancient and unique and full of mystery. The story is incredibly simple and the game prefers to show, not tell, for the most part (although there are secrets that point towards a deeper backstory if you look for them hard enough). The puzzles themselves are all fun to solve, though there's a bit of learning curve as you have to actually watch and interact with the world and it's technology to begin to understand how everything works. But once you do, the puzzles are mostly fun and straightforward, though some of them had me scratching my head for a while before I figured out the answer, which I think is what any good puzzler should do from time to time.Overall, 'Epitasis' is a short, well-crafted first-person puzzle game that has it's heart set firmly in the colorful, ambient, and mysterious alien worlds it lets you explore. It's not a long game (I actually wish there were more puzzles and more mysterious to try and figure out) but the time spent playing it is well worth the price and the sense of wonder you'll have while looking at your screen. A final note: the music is just absolutely fantastic. Funk Fiction created the soundtrack and the way the songs flow from one to another while traversing the world is perfect, as is the ambiance that the music creates for each area. If you have the money, I would absolutely recommend picking up the soundtrack!. Cute little puzzle game. A little rough around the edges, but it makes up for it by being exceedingly pretty.. This little gem is a nice puzzle game, which reminds me of "The Talos Principle" but on a "No Man's Sky" type planet\/moon. The riddles are not too hard and you can explore the areas in your own speed. From what I've seen there is only one puzzle that needs a bit of timing, but it's rather easy. Don't expect too much playtime, an experienced player may solve it in as short as 2 hours, the average player in something like 4 hours and if you really like to explore all areas you may be in for something like 6 hours or more. It's mostly developed by only one guy and he interacts with the players via the discussion forum here, which is nice. And given this last biets of information it is impressive what one can achieve.. I generally don't play puzzle games but this one caught my attention. Puzzles are challenging but not to the point i want to pull my hair out. It has a beautiful atmosphere, makes me stop in my tracks and take in the sites.
